Membership Overview
The makeup of the Fund’s current membership is extremely diverse, drawing on businesses in all sectors of the economy such as technology, utilities, healthcare, retail, industries, agriculture, business services, and construction. The Fund also provides protection for the employees of self-insured non-profit organizations such as charities, churches and community health organizations.
What all our members have in common is that they are licensed by the State of California (SIP) to self-insure their workers compensation programs. Some member entities also obtain a license from SIP to self-administer their workers compensation claims, while others use third-party claims adjusters. In addition, California State law mandates that all private self-insured entities become members of the Security Fund to ensure on-going protection for their injured workers in the event the employer becomes insolvent.
